 |
What is “the Sensitivity
Correction” in Custom Function? |
 |
Automatic sensitivity correction when exposure
is out of range.
If object of shooting is too bright or too dark for setting Sensitivity
value or setting shutter speed does not couple with aperture value
or setting aperture value does not couple with shutter speed, the
camera automatically adjust exposure by either increase or decrease
the Sensitivity value.
• Range of increase or decrease Sensitivity.
Initial setting: from 200 to 1600.
If change Sensitivity range to Wide 200 -3200 by custom function: from
200 to 3200.
Correction step: 1 EV
Sensitivity Correction will perform with following condition.
* Aperture — priority mode: outside
of shutter speed between 1/4000 to shutter speed for hand held camera.
(The inverse of the focal length)
"Although there are individual differences among photographers, in general
the shutter speed for hand held camera is the inverse of the focal length. For
example, 1/75 of second when the focal length is 75mm, and use 1/150 of second
when it is 150mm"
* Shutter — priority mode: outside of range between
minimum aperture to full open aperture.
* Program mode — outside of shutter speed between 1/4000
to shutter speed for hand held camera. (The inverse of the focal
length) and outside of range between minimum aperture to full open
aperture.

 |
What is the focal length
and angle of view for shooting lens? |
 |
The focal length and the angle of view
are equivalent approximately 1.5x in 35mm format. |
| |
 |
Can all 35mm interchangeable
lenses be used? Is there any problem for performance? |
 |
<functional compatible>
Basically, usable lenses that without limit for exposures are FAJ
lenses, lenses that have an aperture A (Auto) position and DA
lens which is planning to sale.
When changing custom function to use non- A position lens, medium
format lens and screw mount lens with using mount adapter can be
use but there is limit for usable function.
<Descriptive compatible>
We had shooting test from various perspectives regarding current
product of 35mm lenses and medium format lenses. In result, we have
decided that all lenses are descriptive compatible lenses.
However, each lens has different descriptive properties.
By changing the photoreceptor from film to CCD, there are the different
descriptive properties lenses from the use of film. |
| |

 |
Why there is limit for functioning
when using non-A position lenses. |
 |
For conventional camera, when rotate aperture
ring, angle of rotation is mechanically inputted to the camera
and aperture value is read into the camera.
*istD does not have such mechanism therefore, can not set
the aperture value mechanically by rotate aperture ring. To set the
aperture value, set the aperture to the A position and set the mode
dial to Av and select the aperture value with the Av dial. |

 |
What is the RAW data? |
 |
The RAW data is “raw” data
that is recorded data before carry out image data processing
for captured data.
When taking a picture, firstly the light of CCD caught is converted
into electronic signal.
This electronic signal is carried out image data processing to edit
image data then image data is recorded. This recorded image data
is JPEG or TIFF. On other hand, the Row data is directly recorded “raw” electronic
signal before carry out image data processing.
The Row data which is not carry out image data processing, if forward
to the computer as it is, can not see as image with regular software.
Therefore, the image data processing is necessary with software [PENTAX
PHOTO Laboratory] which is packed with the *istD camera.
But when playing back image on the LCD monitor of camera, the row
data which is before carry out image data processing can be displayed.
Also when playing back image on the TV monitor with connecting Video
cable, it can be displayed. |

 |
What is the advantage for
taking picture with RAW data? |
 |
The RAW data is “raw” data
that is recorded data before carry out image data processing
for captured data. Therefore, after taking picture you can
set the setting such as White balance,Contrast, Saturation
and Sharpness etc for each frame. (Non-Raw image must be set
before taking (picture) But for sensitivity, with increase
amount of compensation, the image of quality might be deterioration.
Therefore, when taking picture, adjust exposure with correct
exposure as much as possible.
The Row data is 12 bit data with containing 16 times more information
when compare with 8 bit data of JPEG and TIFF. Therefore, it is possible
to expressive with various gradations sequence. |
