Warranty Information for Pentax Products

What is covered under your Pentax warranty?

From the original date of purchase, Pentax Canada Inc. provides a limited two-year manufacturer’s warranty for most products. This limited two-year warranty is composed of a one-year manufacturer’s warranty, as well as an additional 2nd year domestic warranty. This two-year warranty applies only to Pentax products originally distributed by Pentax Canada Inc., and purchased within Canada from a Pentax authorized dealer.

The 2nd year domestic warranty applies to the following products, and became effective on the following dates:

2nd Year Domestic Warranty
Pentax Product Effective Since
Digital SLR Cameras April 1, 2005
Auto Focus 35mm -SLR Cameras and Auto Focus Lenses September 1, 1996
35mm Zoom Compact Cameras May 1, 1997
Manual Focus 35mm SLR Cameras and Manual Focus Lenses November 1, 1997

Pentax products purchased before the above relevant dates include a limited one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Compact Digital Cameras (ie. OptioS6, OptioWPi) , Non-Zoom compact cameras (i.e. PC-55, Espio Mini), Electronic Flashes (i.e. AF500FTZ) and Medium Format cameras (i.e. 645, 67) include a limited one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

From the original date of purchase, Pentax Canada Inc. provides a limited Canadian lifetime warranty for most Pentax Binoculars purchased within Canada. This warranty covers the original owner and is not transferable. Routine external cleaning and normal cosmetic and mechanical wear are not covered under the terms of this limited lifetime binocular warranty. The Pentax Jupiter binocular series include a one-year manufacturer’s warranty.

All Pentax products include a one-year international warranty from the original date of purchase.

The above listed warranties will cover malfunctions resulting from defects in materials and/or workmanship. Provided that your Pentax product meets warranty conditions, Pentax Canada Inc. will perform repairs and return the product free of charge. However, products must be shipped prepaid to Pentax Canada Inc.

The dated proof of purchase receipt (bill of sale) must be provided to ensure warranty status. For Pentax products purchased outside of Canada, the international warranty card must also be provided.

If a dated proof of purchase receipt (and an international warranty card if purchased outside of Canada) are not received with the product, an estimate will be issued.
